The Port of Orange board conducted a search for a new director that expanded outside the United States. But after getting dozens of applications, the board chose someone with local experience.
Lorrie Taylor, the port’s director of administration and finance, will be the new director and chief executive officer to replace Gene Bouillion, who is retiring.
Port Commissioner Keith Wallace summed up the appointment by saying, “she is really, really good and will be asset.”
The port board of commissioners met Monday at noon to select Bouillion’s replacement. Bouillion had held the possition for nearly 20 years.
Wallace said Bouillion served with him and Port Commissioner Johnny Montagne Jr. to choose the new director. The port advertised through the American Association of Port Authorities. The prospects were narrowed to 12 and then to three condidates, who were brought to Orange for interviews.
He said Taylor’s knowledge of the port operations made her the outstanding choice for the job.
