Slime in the ice machine, dead roaches, and moldy carrots contributed to the low score for Pinehurst Barbecue in Bridge City during the first part of March.
Orange County Health Inspector James Scales gave the restaurant on 2100 Texas Avenue a score of 75, the lowest of the 15 inspections of food service businesses that he made so far this month.
Tequila’s Mexican Restaurant, also on Texas Avenue in Bridge City, had the second lowest score with an 82. Problems included cheese enchiladas and beef fajita meat and improper temperatures and lots of dead bugs inside light shields.
Only two businesses had perfect scores. They were Orange County Preschool in Vidor and Little Cypress Learning Center on Little Cypress Drive. Scales also made two pre-opening inspections with no scores. Those were for El Taquito Sabroso food truck at 1706 16th Street in Orange, and the mobile unit of Crawfish Company in Vidor in the parking lot of Hushpuppy’s Seafood.
