Wednesday- Roque appeared in Judge Courtney Arkeen’s courtroom Wednesday morning in shackles and a wheelchair. His bond was set at two million dollars.
Captain Robert Enmon provided a few more details saying Roque was bloody and naked when officers arrived at his home after his mother called 911 when she found Roque and the body of his daughter in her room. He had used a hammer to kill the two year old. Enmon said he could only recall one other time police had been called to the home on Azalea but it didn’t involve family violence. He also said Roque was in a wheelchair because he had resisted with officers several times and they felt this was the easiest way to get him to the courtroom.
Enmon called this case the worst in his 29 years in Orange. He wanted the public to know how much the department and other first responders appreciated the outpouring of prayers and support for them. “We get immune to a lot of things we see in our line of work, but it’s never easy when it involves children,” he said.
