The death of 37-year-old Octavious Lamont Williams is being investigated as a homicide. Orange Detective Captain Robert Enmon said Williams’ mother found his body in his apartment Saturday afternoon because no one had heard from him during the day.
Enmon said he is waiting for an autopsy before commenting on the cause of death. The Regional Crime Lab in Jefferson County has a backlog because of the number of deaths during the weekend. Enmon expects the autopsy to be conducted on Thursday.
Williams lived alone in a unit in the Sabine Park Apartments, formerly The Oaks, on Second Street. Enmon said Williams had not had contact with his family and friends, and had not returned phone calls. His mother went to check on him in the apartment and found him. She called police at 3:12 p.m. Saturday.
Police investigators have talked to “several persons of interest, some more interesting than others.”
Anyone with information about the death should contact the Orange Police Department at 409-883-1095, or Crimestoppers at 409-833-TIPS.
