Contractors for AT&T were working to put new phone lines underground when they broke a water main in Pinehurst at about 3:00 PM on Thursday. Water was pouring out of the break onto Strickland Drive at Martin Street as efforts were made to repair the break. Pinehurst Public Works Director John Toney said the repair crews were trying to determine if it was a 6-inch or 8-inch water line that was broken.
