
Turnovers dominated the opening game of district for the Bridge City Lady Cardinals on Friday night. The two teams combined for 50 turnovers in the game and only 40 points. The Lady Cardinals defeated the West Orange-Stark Lady Mustangs 30-10 in West Orange.
Bridge City outscored West Orange-Stark in every quarter. The Lady Cardinals finally began to separate themselves from the Lady Mustangs in the third quarter. Scoring the first seven points in the third gave Bridge City a 13-point lead.
The Lady Mustangs were held scoreless in the first quarter and were without a point in the third period until 1:45 was left. Diamond Judge sank a bucket to get West Orange-Stark’s first points of the second half.
Six Lady Cardinals got on the score sheet. Anaiah Hicks was the leading scorer with 8 points, six of those coming in the fourth quarter. Rylee Oceguera scored four of Bridge City’s five points in the first quarter and made the only 3-pointer of the game in the third quarter to finish with 7 points. Madison Fischer added 6 points for the Bridge City cause.
West Orange-Stark also had six ladies register points, but none finished with more than two. In addition to Judge, Roynisha Wade, Ke’Shaunia Winbush, and Camryn Copeland scored two points each.

Orangefield outscored Kirbyville 30-5 in the first quarter and went on to crush the Wildcats 77-18. Faith Fregia 18 points, 4 steals. The Lady Bobcats will face East Chambers at home on Tuesday.
LCM Lady Bears beat Hamshire-Fannett on the road 37-26.
The Deweyville Lady Pirates beat Chester 38-27. Aleigha Raymer led all scorers with 15 points, Payton Waldrum had 7, Maggie LaVergne and Jada Freeland each had 6, and Lacie McCollough added 4. Lady Pirates return to action Friday night at home vs Huntington Lady Red Devils.
Vidor lost at Dayton 69-40.
Boys
Orangefield beat Evadale 57-45. Tyroone Waggoner had 11 points and 12 rebounds. Valentin Catt with 12 points and 9 rebounds. Coy Bryant added 11. OF opens district Tuesday vs. East Chambers.
Deweyville beat Chester 59-16. Cade Watson lead the Pirates with 16. Ty Collier and Gavin Buxton each added 12.
WOS lost at Vidor 62-49. Gavin Jarrell lead the Pirates with 32 points.
Bridge City beat Sabine 69-34. Freshman Ethan Oceguera scored 20 for the Cardinals.
