A Vidor man was killed Wednesday night when he was struck by a pickup truck while riding a bicycle. Sergeant Stephanie Davis with the Texas Department of Public Safety reports DPS troopers responded to the crash on FM 105 near West Circle Road at about 7:00 PM Wednesday.
The troopers indicated a 2008 Ford pickup truck was traveling southbound on FM 105. A bicyclist was traveling northbound on the shoulder of the southbound lane of the highway. For an unknown reason the driver of the pickup truck traveled off the main portion of the roadway and struck the bicyclist.
Shannon Harrington, age 31, of Vidor was the bicyclist and was pronounced deceased at the scene by Justice of Peace Rodney Price. Kevin Lightfoot, age 18, of Silsbee was the driver of the Ford pickup and he was not injured. Troopers are still investigating the circumstances with this crash.
