You’ve heard coaches use the cliche that “the game is won in the trenches.” That could’ve been used Friday as the Navasota Rattlers controlled the line of scrimmage and ended the LCM Bears season with a 38-7 loss in Huffman in the 4A DI Bidistrict round.
The Bears (4-7) could only muster 151 yards of offense while the Rattlers put up 461 yards with 280 of that coming from the ground game.
Navasota jumped out to a 17-0 lead before the Bears posted their only score. Quarterback Adam Pope called his own number from the two yard line after setting it up with a 35 yard run to make it a first and goal call.
Navasota (6-5) will play Midlothian Heritage, who defeated Kilgore 42-21.
