Last night the 8th Grade Cardinal Football team played Livingston at home. The Red Team was playing for a District Championship, and beat Livingston by a score of 28-0. Mason Pruitt scored on a 5 yard run. Clayton Whatley scored a TD on a fumble recovery and a run of 50 yards for the score. Jaden Martinez kicked the extra point. J S Bearden scored on a 3 yard run, and the extra point was kicked by Jaden Martinez, and finally J S Bearden scored on a 5 yard run, and Kyler Garlaska passed to J S Bearden for the 2 point conversion. Playing well on defense were Christian Cane, Eduardo Rodriguez, Shaun Hallman, Bobby Drake, Mario Martinez, and Noah Broussard. Offensively, Brandon Milstead,Lane Brinson, Parker Norwood, Matt Livingston, and Jayden Weigand played well Their record goes to 6-1 overall and 4-0 in district. They travel to Cleveland next Tuesday to finish up the season. Coach Meyer and Coach Pittman would like to thank these boys for winning the District Championship with style and character.
The White Team, also playing for a District Championship, lost by a score of 6-0 on a long catch and run near the end of the game. Ayden Fukuda intercepted a pass, while Nabor Sanchez, Jayston King, Ciro Martinez, Cale Breaux, Corey Neil, Jerry Winfrey, and Anthony Bellanger all played well on offense and defense. Their record goes to 5-2 overall and 3-1 in district play.
The 7th grade teams traveled to Livingston Tuesday night. The white team lost by a score of 26-0. Offensive leaders were Aaron Torres, Trystan Chapman, AG Gutierrez, and Reese Broussard. The defense was led by Nick Fuentes, and Hayden Dickson. The red team was defeated 20-0. The loss drops their overall record to 3-4 and 1-3 in district. The offense was led by Rayburn Hebert, who had several nice completions to Stephen Stone and Lincoln Breaux. John Van Huis, Cody Fuselier, Landon Reeves, and Hebert also ran the ball well.
