
Richard Arlen “Rickey” Fontenot, 61, of Orange, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on Friday, October 19, 2018. A memorial gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, October 24, 2018, from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM, at Dorman Funeral Home.
On Saturday, August 3, 1957, in Orange, Texas, Rickey was born to Janet Crew Fontenot and James Arlen Fontenot. Rickey was of the catholic faith and attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He graduated from Lutcher Stark High School in 1976 and went on to become a carpenter and was a proud member of the carpentry union. He later became a mechanic and supervisor, working a combined 34 years with Dupont, and later Invista. Rickey was a man who dearly loved his family and always encouraged his children to be the very best that they could be. He loved the outdoors; sitting on the front porch to watch hummingbirds or fireflies, at the beach collecting seashells and listening to waves crash, or riding his motorcycle. Rickey was a very knowledgeable man who was a whiz at music trivia and also enjoyed watching the history channel.
Preceding Rickey in death is his father, James Arlen Fontenot.
Those left to cherish Rickey’s memory are his loving partner of 8 years, Rosemary Smith, of Orange, Texas; daughters, Haley Peck-Law and husband, Derek, of Austin, Texas, and Elissa Fontenot, of Austin, Texas; mother, Janet Crew Fontenot, of Georgetown, Texas; sisters, Rhonda Hohmann, of Georgetown, Texas, and April Carroll and wife, Lee, of Liberty, Texas; uncle, Ray Fontenot, of Orange, Texas; grandson, Noah Peck; and numerous members of extended family and friends
In lieu of flowers, on behalf of Richard Arlen “Rickey” Fontenot, the family requests that donations be made the Stark Foundation c/o Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center.
