The Orangefield Bobcats went to East Chambers looking for the upset Friday but the Buccaneers had other ideas as they shutout the Bobcats 41-0.
The Bucs came out and immediately jumped on the Bobcats with a huge run. With big stops by Heston Puckett and Clayson Choate the Bobcats forced the Bucs to kick a 22 yard field goal.
Orangefield’s first possession turned into a turnover and the Bucs didn’t take long to make them pay. A couple of handoffs, a tackle breaking run, the Bucs scored from 24 to take a 10-0 lead with a little over seven minutes left in the first.
The Bobcats were able to move the ball a bit before the first quarter ended with a pass completed to Kaiden DuBose and then another to Heston Puckett for the first down. Unfortunately, a three-minute drive turned into a punt.
The Bobcats defense made some good plays on the Bucs next drive including tackles by Kent Michael, Chase Broussard, and Lane Rach as well as a pass denied by Blake Bradley to stall the EC drive.
East Chambers recovered a fumble to start the second quarter and took advantage of their opportunity. The Bucs completed a few passes including a 32-yarder for the score and a 17-0 lead. With the extra point the Bucs now lead 17-0. After an impressive round of defense, the Bucs added to their lead with a drive that ended with a pitch for a score and a 24-0 lead at the half.
The Bobcats continued to work on offense but couldn’t quite seem to string first downs together. After the punt left the ball on the 27-yard line, East Chambers continued to hand the ball several times before completing a pass that left them on the 14-yard line. From there the Bucs handed the ball off for the touchdown along with the extra point putting them leading by 31. East Chambers added to the lead shortly after with a couple of passes, a quarterback keeper, a touchdown scoring handoff, and the extra point resulting in a score of 38-0 going into the fourth.
In the fourth the Bobcats continued to try and make things happen but couldn’t seem to get past the Bucs defense. Despite a nice carry by Bradley followed by another by DuBose, the Bobcats punted. The Bucs then worked their running game resulting is just the right amount of yards until they kicked a field goal as they dropped OF’s district mark to 1-2.
