The first goal of the Little Cypress-Mauriceville CISD states, “We will provide students and staff with facilities and services that are safe and conducive to an orderly, positive learning environment.” We strive to do just that, and during the next couple of weeks, LCM’s staff will all be involved in tactical training, led by area law enforcement.
We will not share details, so that any who would do harm are unaware of emergency plans and procedures, but we did want the community to know that there is not an emergency if you see police and sheriff’s vehicles converged on a campus or hear gunshots. Law enforcement will use blank rounds so that training is as realistic as possible. This is a closed training session to all but District employees and law enforcement.
Besides securing the entrances to buildings, we are also taking precautions to secure individual classrooms and offices within each campus and department. Additionally, all staff will be trained to administer first aid if the unthinkable were to occur.
We appreciate your support as we strive to make our schools as safe as they can be while providing the best possible education for the students of LCM.
