
The City of Bridge City will be getting a new secretary before the end of the year. Sherry Tisdale who has served Bridge City for many years as the city secretary has announced her intentions to retire on October 31.
The City Council held a called meeting on Tuesday which included a closed executive session for it to deliberate restructuring the city administration with Tisdale’s anticipated retirement. After thirty minutes of discussion the council re-convened in open session and voted to take no action at this time.
City Manager Jerry Jones said there are six different proposals for restructuring the city’s administration. He stated wants to wait on choosing one of them until after the new City Secretary is picked by the City Council.
Before the closed session the council approved authorizing the application by Bridge City for a Hazard Mitigation Grant. Traylor and Associates will serve as the grant administrator.
Jones concluded the meeting with an introductory presentation of the 2018-19 budget for Bridge City. The City Council is scheduled to meet for budget workshops Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and two days next week to discuss the budget. The workshops are all scheduled to begin at 6:00 PM in the City Hall on Rachal Avenue.
