The City of West Orange will be applying for a Hazard Mitigation Grant. Meeting in a called session on Tuesday the West Orange City Council approved for the city to submit the request for the $9.9 million grant.
Public Works Director Mike Stelly explained West Orange will use the grant if the city receives it to complete a drainage study which could lead to deepening and widening ditches, re-sloping the ditches, and removing undersized culverts in the ditches. “It’s all drainage projects,” Stelly summarized.
Melinda Smith with Traylor and Associates will serve as the grant administrator. Mayor Roy McDonald will be the authorized representative for West Orange in all matters pertaining to the grant if it is awarded.
