
Three motorcyclists were seriously injured in two separate crashes during the weekend.
A Bridge City woman Friday night had to be taken by medical helicopter to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont after a Ford Mustang hit the Harley-Davidson she was driving.
Saturday morning, two Houston women driving motorcycles with a group were injured when one motorcycle hit the back of the other.
The first crash was at 10 p.m. in the 2600 block of South Lutcher Drive, the feeder road of Interstate 10. Orange police report 54-year-old Stacy Trero of Bridge City was traveling eastbound on her motorcycle. A Ford Mustang, driven by 61-year-old Darrell Brown of Monticello, Indiana, pulled out of the Holiday Inn Express driveway and hit the motorcycle.
Acadian Ambulance medical helicopter took Trero to St. Elizabeth with incapacitating injuries.
The other crash happened about 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the 7400 block of South Lutcher Drive. A Suzuki motorcycle driven by 41-year-old Michelle Antoinette Battiste of Houston was traveling in the outside lane of South Lutcher Drive. She was being followed by 42-year-old Michele Diane Simien on a Suzuki.
The first motorcycle pulled right into a driveway at 7411 South Lutcher. Witnesses told police the brakes on Simien’s motorcycle were not working and she ran into the back of Battiste’s cycle. Both drivers lost control of their cycles when they hit.
Battiste was taken by Acadian Ambulance to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. Orange police reported not knowing where Simien was taken.
A woman living on Mill Street in the Old Orange Historic District woke up early Friday morning to discover that someone had come into the house while she slept and stole a 65-inch television.
Also Friday morning, a man living on Cherokee Trail in the Little Cypress area reported a burglary with several items stolen.
Friday afternoon a man living on Beverly Avenue in Greenway Park reported items taken from his yard.
Two assaults were reported to Orange police during the weekend. A man called police about 3 a.m. Saturday to Knox Avenue in Navy Park. He told an officer his girlfriend had stabbed him with his pocket knife. Police did not report that he got medical help.
Acadian Ambulance was called to treat a woman who was assaulted by a group of people Sunday afternoon. Police went to Crawdad’s at 4080 Interstate 10 about 1:30 p.m. Sunday. They found a woman in a car who was injured and appeared to be in shock. The woman refused to give a statement about her attack and she did not want to pursue charges.
