Joyce Fay Bridgers went to be with Lord at home in Orange, Texas on Tuesday, May 15 at 10:55 p.m. Funeral services are set for 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 21 in the chapel of Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home with Rev. David Hamm officiating. Burial will be in Georgia Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 5 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the funeral home. Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
She was born September 2 4, 1939, in Lamar County, Paris, Texas to Ray Newton and Essie Hobbs Newton. She married Rev. C.R. “Charley” Bridgers July 3, 1954, in Lamar County. She worked over 40 years in Paris area at Wintermute Industries, Grand Cleaners, and American Box Company. She was a devoted Christian who loved God and attended Mac Arthur Heights in Orange, Texas and Pathway Church of God in Paris, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, and three daughters, Wanda Marie, Charlene Ruth, and Donna Mae; her six siblings, Grady, Katie, Tom, Royce, Florence, and Ann.
Survivors include her daughter, Georgia Faye Bridgers Willhite and spouse, Chuck Reeves Willhite of Orange, Texas; son-in-law, Johnny Dean; sister-in-law, LuLa Mae Powell of Paris, Texas; eleven grandchildren and spouses, Wayne Lee Dunken, Treasa & Stephen Bailey, Jerry & Chastity Dean, Misty Dean, Stacy & Joey Archer, Stefanie & Monty Melton, Sara & Brian Boyer, Robert Whitley, Amanda & Dominic Cardella, Rufus & Cherie Hill, and Jarrod Willhite; twenty-five great-grandchildren, Breanna Blackstock, Cheyenne, Nathan, & Sean Dunken, Stephen, Alexander, & Samantha Bailey, Kimrie Dean & Dustin Jones, Jacy, Lainee, & Trinity Ashford, Harley & Matthew Archer, Tyler, William, Hunter & Lexi Melton, Jailynn & Julian Boyer, Carmen Whitley, Alex & Cameron Cardella, Zoë Hill, and Kallie Willhite; and one great-great-grandchild, Kaleb Blackstock.
