
A man was shot Saturday evening during an argument inside a house in the Old Orange Historic District. Orange police said his injury was not life-threatening.
Police took the woman who was inside the house at the time to the Medical Center of Southeast Texas for a mental evaluation.
Police were called to the house in the 800 block of Cypress Avenue at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Officers reported the Orange Fire Department treated the man at the scene and he was later transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
As of Monday afternoon, no charges had been filed.
Thieves sometime Thursday night stole refrigerators and ranges from the Velma Jeter Apartments, which are undergoing renovation construction after Tropical Storm Harvey.
Orange police went to the complex at 2500 Allie Payne Road about 11 a.m. Friday. Several apartments were missing the appliances.
Facebook can help recover stolen property. A man from Orange traveling on Womack Road Friday afternoon saw a Polaris Razor he had seen posted as stolen on the social media. He called Orange police and the four-wheeler was returned to the owner.
Police said the man had seen the black Polaris with blue wheels listed on a Facebook site. He recognized the vehicle sitting on the side of the road in the 3300 block of Womack Road and called police about 12:30 p.m. Officers checked and discovered the Polaris had been reported stolen. The owner was notified and arrived to pick up the vehicle.
