The Sabine River Authority Thursday afternoon shut six spillway gates at Toledo Bend Reservoir. Five remain open at one foot each.
On Wednesday, 11 gates were open at two feet each and Thursday morning the 11 gates were lowered to one foot each. By the afternoon, the lake was down to 172.2 feet and the six gates were closed. The lake is considered full at 172 feet.
The Sabine River at Deweyville crested Wednesday at 26.9 feet and was down to 26.7 feet Thursday afternoon. The river there is supposed to be in the moderate flood stage through Tuesday.
The Sabine in Orange Pier Road Thursday afternoon was at 3.4 feet. Flood level is four feet.
Even though the river in Orange is not at flood stage, bayous across the county are up because of the upriver flooding. Several areas in the Cove neighborhood along Adams Bayou have water, along with areas on Simmons Drive off Little Cypress Bayou.
Water levels all over the region could change Friday and Saturday because rain and thunderstorms are forecast for the area as another cold front moves through.
