A justice of the peace has ruled the manner of death as “undetermined” for a 26-year-old employee who was killed at a West Orange industrial plant on February 8.
Isaiah Sias was pronounced dead at the scene at the Akrotex Extrusion and Recycling plant on Austin Street. Precinct 3 Justice of the Peace Joyce Dubose Simonton said Monday the autopsy showed he died of blunt force trauma to the head. After receiving the final autopsy report, the judge said “the manner of death is undetermined.”
The judge said the toxicology tests showed he did not have drugs in his system at the time of his death.
In February, West Orange Assistant Police Chief Jesse Romero said police were called to the plant about 2 in the afternoon February 8. He said a man in his 20’s was deceased and the man had been feeding plastic pellets into an extruding machine.
Ross Smith, owner of Akrotex said, “Our thoughts and prayers go out to Mr. Sias’ family for their loss and we wish them the very best. We are continuing to investigate the incident and we have no further comments at this time.”
May he rest in peace. Prayers for the family!
