
The LCM Bears outscored the Orangefield Bobcats 16-10 Tuesday to hand OF their first district loss and put them in a first place tie with the Bears and BC Cardinals at 4-1.
The two teams combined for 26 runs on 23 hits with 19 walks, seven pitchers, and three hit batters. There were 17 left on base during the wild affair. The Bobcats scored their ten runs in the first four innings off of Truman Franklin and Taylor Gilbert. It was the Bears third pitcher, Regan Burdette, that shut down the Bobcats offense. After giving up a single to Kadeon Evans in the fifth, he did not give up another hit while striking out three, to keep the Cats off the scoreboard the final three innings.
The Bears had big innings in the second and the fourth with five in each. Chris Bilbo was 3-4 scoring three times. Truman Franklin had three hits, 3 RBI’s, a walk and two runs scored. For OF, Kent Michael was 3-4 with 5 RBI’s and a walk. Mason Gonzales had a double and a home run. The two are scheduled to play Friday in Orangefield.

Bridge City got shutout pitching and timely hitting Tuesday. The Cardinals defeated the West Orange-Stark Mustangs 6-0 at Ronnie Anderson Park in West Orange.
Starter Peyton Havard threw four strong innings for Bridge City. He allowed just one hit, walked two, and struck two to earn the victory. Jacob Goodman pitched his first game of the season and had three scoreless innings yielding two hits and one hit batter. Goodman struck out four Mustangs.
Da’quarius Gibson started on the mound for West Orange-Stark and retired the first two Cardinals he faced. With two gone Logan Hamm lined a double just inside the right field line. Jackson Tims brought Hamm home with a single to right to give Bridge City the early lead 1-0.
In the second the first three Cardinals all singled. The second by Gavin Green was a fake bunt that he then lined past the Mustang thirdbase man just fair. Case Skinner drove in Justyn Romero with the third hit. Green scored as part of a double steal with Skinner to make the score 3-0.
Two more Cardinals scored in the third as Gibson walked Hamm and Tims to start the inning. Luc Hollier singled to right to drive in Hamm. After a one-out walk to Green loaded the bases Justin Veitch relieved Gibson. Skinner grounded into a fielder’s choice to score Tims giving Bridge City a five-run lead.
Romero scored the final run in the fifth. He led off with a walk, stole second, and went to third on a hit by Green. Skinner got his third run batted in of the game with a sacrifice fly to left.
West Orange-Stark got seven base runners in the game off the pair of Bridge City pitchers with three hits, two walks, and two Cardinal errors. Chad Dallas reached base all three times he batted with two singles and a walk. Dallas and Jerren Terrell were the only two Mustangs to reach second base.
The win moves the Cardinals into a tie for first-place. The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears handed the Orangefield Bobcats their first district loss also on Tuesday. The Cardinals, Bears, and Bobcats are tied atop the district standings at the half way point of the district games all with one loss. Friday’s games find Bridge City at home against West Orange-Stark and Little Cypress-Mauriceville traveling to Orangefield. Rain is in the forecast for Friday, so starting times and even days maybe changed.

LCM shutout Orangefield 7-0. Brianna Frenzel pitched a one hitter and also hit a homerun for the Lady Bears. LCM is now 4-2 and OF 3-3 in district.

BC shutout WOS 15-0 in 4 innings. Kassidy Wilbur pitched a one hitter for two innings and Austyn Daniels pitched the final two without giving up a hit. Wilbur was 2-4 with a grand slam and 6 RBI’s. Dennison, Harrision, Halliburton Gerrald, and Anderson all had a hit for BC (6-0).

Deweyville lost to Evadale 12-0 in five. The Lady Pirates fall to 3-3 in district. They will play at West Hardin on Friday at 4:30.
