Willie Harrison, age 92 of Orange, Texas, passed away on Sunday, March 4, 2018 in Beaumont, Texas. Services to honor Willie’s long life will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Dorman Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Brian Gibbs officiating. Interment will follow at Autumn Oaks Memorial Park in Orange, Texas. Family and friends will gather for a visitation from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at Dorman Funeral Home.
Willie was born in Odell, Texas on February 4, 1926 to Iva Love Riddlespurger and John Thomas Harrison. Willie proudly served his country in the United States Army 603rd Tank Destroyer Battalion during WWII. His decorations and citations from the war were a EAME Campaign ribbon with 1 bronze star, army occupation ribbon – Germany victory ribbon and 2 overseas service bars. He was the co-owner of Harrison & Sanders Bail Bonds. Willie enjoyed playing dominos and cards with his friends. He will be remembered by many for his kind and generous heart. Also he enjoyed a nice pour of crown & 7 and a good smoke. And the occasional poker game. Willie was a happy person who enjoyed living each day to the fullest. He was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Astros. He was very happy He lived long enough to see the Astros win the World Series. He loved his family and friends very much.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife Floy Marie Harrison, parents John and Iva Harrison, daughter Linda Zerko and grandson Eugene Harrison. Two brothers, JT Harrison and Logan Harrison. Two sisters, Ruby Harrison and Betty Gunter.
Those left to cherish his memory are his three children; Allen Harrison and his wife Ellen of Lone Pine, CA, Howard Harrison of Orange, TX and Janice Greenwell and Robert Bruner of Vinton, LA. One sister, LolaMae Ortolon and her husband James of Devils Pocket, TX. Seven grandchildren; Lisa Gunter Fuselier, Gina Gunter Harrison, Lori Harrison, Jason Harrison, Amy Harrison, Brooke Gibbs and Timothy “Ty” Greenwell. As well as five great grandchildren; Britni Collins, Emilee Collins, Christian Fuselier, Hunter Fuselier and Brynlee Gibbs.
