Our beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Fayette Fletcher “Bitsy” Anger, age 82, of Orange, Texas went to Heaven on Thursday, February 22, 2018 in Port Arthur, Texas. Bitsy was born in Beaumont, Texas on Sunday, September 15, 1935, the son of John William Anger and Dorothy Pipkin Anger. He was a life-long resident of Orange after moving from Beaumont with his family at the age of two.
Bitsy graduated from Lutcher Stark High School in 1954 where he played on the football and golf teams. Following high school, he attended both Stephen F. Austin and Lamar University. While at Stephen F. Austin, he continued to enjoy his passion for the game of golf, playing on the university’s team. In 1960, Bitsy went to work for Allied Chemical, now known as Honeywell International, where he worked for 42 years as a buyer/storekeeper until his retirement in 2001. He served and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army Reserve, rank SP5, in 1964.
As talented as he was at his golf game, Bitsy was an equally avid and expert fisherman. From childhood, he loved spending time on the water surrounded by the beauty of God’s creation. He intimately knew every marsh, lake, and tributary on the southern end of the Sabine River Basin as well as much of Toledo Bend Lake. His other hobbies included bowling, working in the yard, and horse racing. No one could “pick the ponies” quite like Bitsy could!
Bitsy was known for his loving kindness, his compassionate and generous heart for his family and for others. He was extremely friendly and truly never met a stranger. He will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.
Predeceasing Bitsy were his dear parents, Dorothy and John William Anger.
Bitsy is survived by his cherished and only child, Stacy Renee Anger Haley; his beloved grandchildren, Gavin Fletcher Haley and Emily Christine Haley; his devoted brother, John Pipkin Anger; his former wife and mother of Stacy, Christine Schroder Shivers as well as countless other loved ones.
Rest in peace, Daddy…
