Orange police Thursday afternoon arrested a man considered a suspect in an assault that occurred Wednesday afternoon in a house that caught fire less than three hours later.
Detective Captain Robert Enmon said a 13-year-old was injured when a brick thrown inside the house at 1307 Clairmont Drive hit her arm. The arm was not broken.
Police were called to the house for an aggravated assault involving a family at 1:22 p.m. Wednesday. The house was reported on fire at 3:50 p.m. Wednesday.
Enmon said Fire Marshal John Bilbo has been “very, very busy” investigating the fire and has sent items off to a laboratory for testing. No ruling on the cause of the fire has been made.
Police arrested 37-year-old Adonte Mickles of Orange Thursday afternoon on a previously-issued warrant for misdemeanor terroristic threat. Enmon said that charge is not related to anything that happened on Wednesday.
He said the Wednesday afternoon assault happened after two adults and a juvenile were arguing inside the house. The man began picking up items and throwing them at the woman and the juvenile. The juvenile was hit with the brick.
The Orange Fire Department extinguished the blaze at the wood-frame house. The house was heavily damaged but no one inside was injured.
