Newton County SHERIFF’S REPORT
01/29/2018
by Sheriff Billy Rowles
It wasn’t too bad around here last week. Let’s see what’s been going on.
We received another report of a deer camp being broken into. Only thing missing was a couple rolls of toilet paper and a butane bottle. There has got to be a joke there somewhere. Can’t deer hunt any more so lets put those cameras out around your camps and see who’s coming around.
We recovered some evidence in one of our murder cases. Evidence will help us a lot. Thanks goes out to the citizens who contacted us.
A dad called in reporting that a man was holding his daughter hostage and had been beating her. All hands were called on deck. We got there, it wasn’t as bad as it was reported. One arrested and one moved out.
Lady called to report her pot was missing. She said she was broke into last week and they must have come back and got her weed. Wow!
Lots of dog complaints. Two reported dog bites that required being taken to the hospital. Please keep your dogs on your property. You are responsible for your dogs and what they do.
Congrats to Deputy Barry Laird. He has earned the rank of Sergeant. Congrats Sgt. Laird.
Bobby Bean is cooking gumbo and I am cooking chili here at the courthouse on Friday, February 2 from 11:00 a.m. till 1:00 p.m. $8.00 each. This will help pay for the granite monument that will be placed at the Newton High School for the 2017 STATE FOOTBALL CHAMPS. Come eat a bite with us.
Gotta Go. Thought for the week. A liberal is just a conservative who hasn’t been mugged yet. Ya’ll have a good week and if we can help, just holler. God Bless.
