
The finalists for the Willie Ray Smith Award, celebrating the top offensive and defensive player from the 2017 high school football season, were announced Thursday.
Orange County had two finalists on the defensive side of the ball. Davien Teate of West Orange-Stark and Joey Ciccio of Vidor were selected along with Newton’s Corbin Foster and Donald Collins of West Brook.
Offensively PNG QB Roschon Johnson leads the group along with Newton’s Darwin Barlow, Nederland’s Devon Simmons and Elijah Hines of Memorial.
The WRS Awards presentation will be Feb. 21 at the Elegante Hotel in Beaumont.
