Jimmie Earl Sherwin, 74, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont, Texas. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at First Baptist Church in Mauriceville with Reverend Kevin Brown officiating. Cremation is under the direction of Dorman Funeral Home.
He was born in Port Arthur, Texas on Tuesday, February 16, 1943 to Hazel and Joseph Watkins Sherwin. Jimmie retired from DuPont Sabine River Works, and proudly served in the U.S. Air Force. He spent most of his life with his love Peggy and anytime you saw her, you saw him. He enjoyed building and repairing things in his shop but would drop everything to go with her to the store or pick up his grandsons from school (and stop at Sonic).
He is preceded in death by his loving wife Peggy; parents Hazel and Joseph Watkins Sherwin and sister Loretta Jones.
Jimmie is survived by his two sons, Mike Sherwin and his wife Barbara, and Jon Sherwin and his wife Sheri; two grandsons, Matthew Sherwin and Nathan Sherwin all of Mauriceville, TX., brothers Joe Sherwin and his wife Jeannie of Benbrook, TX, and Roger Sherwin and his wife Debbie of Bonney Lake, WA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Mauriceville Building Fund.
