
Monday is the national and state holiday for Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday, however only some local government offices and school districts will be closed.
The Orange County Courthouse and county offices will be closed, along with city offices in Orange and Vidor. City halls in West Orange, Pinehurst and Bridge City will be open.
The West Orange-Cove CISD will be closed with teachers, staff and students getting a holiday. Bridge City ISD will not have classes for students, but teachers and staff will have a work day.
Vidor ISD had originally had the day scheduled as a holiday but is using it as a make-up day for days missed during Harvey.
Little Cypress-Mauriceville CISD and Deweyville will have classes.
The Orange NAACP will sponsor its annual MLK Day March Monday. The march will begin at 1 p.m. at Solomon Johnson Park at Second and Turret streets. Participants are asked to line up at 12:30. The march will the go along Second Street to Green Avenue and end at Orange City Hall, where a program will be held.
