The Stark Museum of Art is hosting a reception and book signing for the new exhibit Long Shadow: The Lutcher-Stark Lumber Dynasty, Saturday January 27 from 1:00-4:00 pm.
The exhibition features historic photographs and documents from the Eunice R. Benckenstein Library & Archive. “The exhibit grew out of the recent publication of the same name,” said Jenniffer Hudson Connors, Manager of the Library & Archive. It tells the story of the Lutcher and Stark families at work, in the community and at home. Many of these items from the collection have not been on public view before, and will be on display in this exhibition for the first time.
Drew Whatley, Educator for Public History, will offer a brief talk, Business on the Bayou, looking back at the importance of deepwater development in Orange. The talk begins at 1:30, and is available to all guests who wish to attend.
Authors, Ellen Rienstra and JoAnn Stiles, of the award-winning book, The Long Shadow: The Lutcher-Stark Lumber Dynasty, will be available to sign books. Books are also available to purchase in the Stark Museum of Art lobby.
