The Orange County Office of Emergency Management issued a notification Tuesday that the projected completion date will be December 18 for debris removal in the county. Emergency Management Coordinator Ralph Valenciano spoke to the Commissioners Court about the long-awaited approval to begin picking up debris on private property.
FEMA notified Valenciano Tuesday morning that Orange County would be permitted to proceed with the Private Property Debris Removal plan. Valenciano said, “We want to get this information out with the specific dates and how we would like to pick up the remaining portions of the debris.”
Citizens who want to have debris removed from their private property must fill out and return the Right of Entry form which is available at the Emergency Management offices at the Orange County Convention and Expo Center. The deadline to submit the Right of Entry forms is December 8. Valenciano expects the completion of debris removal from private property of eligible applicants to be December 30.
The Commissioners Court held a brief meeting Tuesday before the Thanksgiving holiday this weekend. The Commissioners approved transferring a 2006 Ford pickup truck from surplus to be used by the Parks Department. The truck was previously used by the constable in Precinct 2, but was considered the best of the vehicles designated as surplus. The Parks Department had their only truck flooded during Harvey.
The Court authorized Connie Cassidy the head of purchasing to go out for bids for two new SCAG mowers. The total cost would be about $20,000. County Clerk Brandy Robertson was approved by the Commissioners to purchase a new copier for $5,290.
County Engineer Clark Slacum recommended three lots in the Bridgefield Estates Phase IV Subdivision be revised. The Commissioners approved a replat for lots 54, 55, and 56 located in Precinct 3.
Two line item transfers were approved by the Commissioners Court to allow for purchases to be done. Constable Jimmy Lane Mooney of Precinct 4 will purchase a rifle for $1,264.49. Justice of the Peace Rodney Price of Precinct 4 will purchase a new desk chair for $700.
