Orange police are asking people in the Lindenwood subdivision to check their security cameras for help in identifying a man who attempted to kidnap a 9-year-old boy Wednesday afternoon.
Detective Captain Robert Enmon said the boy was playing outside his house on Browning Street about 2:20 p.m. when a man in a brown car pulled up. The man told the boy “I have candy and all the electronics you want.”
The boy immediately went inside and told his mother, who called police. In addition, the boy locked the doors and closed the blinds in the house.
“He did exactly what you’re supposed to do,” Captain Enmon said.
The car is described as an older, brown four-door passenger car. The man inside is possibly Hispanic with dark hair, but no facial hair. The man is middle-aged, perhaps in his 40s.
Police immediately searched the area but did not find anyone. Captain Enmon is asking people with security cameras to check the recordings around that time to search for the car so police can get more information.
People who may know more about the attempted kidnapping should call the OPD detective division at 409-883-1095.
