At 9:05 pm on Friday, October 13, 2017, the Vidor Police Department Dispatch Center received a call of an auto – pedestrian accident in the 1700 block of Hwy 12 in Vidor, Texas. The caller advised that a woman was struck by a vehicle while crossing the roadway. The woman had just left a Halloween venue with her grandchildren, who witnessed the incident. Officers upon arrival found the victim in the roadway. CPR had been initiated by citizens. Officers were advised by witnesses that the vehicle left the scene after striking the victim without stopping or rendering aid. The victim was transported by Acadian Ambulance Service to Christus St. Elizabeth hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.
The Vidor Police Department is asking the community’s assistance in locating the driver and vehicle involved. The preliminary description is a medium sized SUV or Cross-over vehicle that maybe light colored possibly silver or white. The vehicle should have damage to the front right side of the vehicle. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Vidor Police Department at 409-769-4561 or Crime Stoppers at 833-TIPS (8477). Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the responsible parties.
