Bridge City will have its first collective bargaining session with the Bridge City Police Association on June 27. The City Council approved the date for the negotiations to start during its meeting Tuesday night. The bargaining session will be at 5:30 PM Tuesday, June 27, in the City Hall. Council members Eric Andrus and Lucy Fields were nominated to serve on the Collective Bargaining Committee for Bridge City.
City Manager Jerry Jones said the city is still awaiting approval from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality to install the filters in a third water well. Jones added that Bridge City will halt flushing of the water lines the rest of this week with the approach of Tropical Storm Cindy to this area.
Mayor David Rutledge encouraged all citizens to prepare for the possible impact of the storm. He recommended families get their emergency plan together. Rutledge suggested citizens can call the City Hall in Bridge City for details of what should be gathered up and who else should be contacted in the event the storm comes to Orange County. Friends or relatives of persons with disabilities will need to register them with the 211 System to make sure they will be evacuated if needed.
The next scheduled City Council meeting in Bridge City has been cancelled since it was to fall on Independence Day, July 4. City Manager Jones indicated there will be budget workshops starting that week and any items needing council consideration could be included in a workshop agenda.
