Robert Lee Brady passed away peacefully at his home on May 29th, after 77 years of life filled with love, laughter, joy and challenge. Beloved husband for 34 years of Cheryl Brady, big brother of Charles D. Brady, Lillie Rhoads, Bertha Brady, Katherine Heallen (deceased), and Gladys Fay Stromseth (deceased), caring father of Tim Brady, Lillie Dudley, Scott Brady and Patty Brady, proud grandfather of five, great grandfather of five and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, brother and sister in laws. Bob grew up as part of a large, close-knit family in south Texas, and often spoke of his mother’s unwavering faith and his father’s practical wisdom as major influences that guided him. Family was extremely important to him and he remained close to his brother and sisters throughout his life. He was a proud Marine who loved and respected his country, and shared a bond with those who served and protected our freedoms. Bob had an entrepreneurial spirit, and enjoyed a successful career in ownership, management and sales. He was a mentor and leader to many, and was looked up to and adored by those who worked with him. His was an unwavering love for all of his family, and he treasured his time with them, often creating special moments and unforgettable events that are part of the fabric of so many lives he touched. Fishing trips, sporting events, concerts, vacations and family get-togethers were his greatest passion, and yes, he spoiled his grandchildren and great grandchildren rotten. Bob was a friend, brother and paternal figure to so many, and was affectionately nick-named “The Godfather” by young people who loved being around him and sought out his advice and counsel. His warm smile, and hearty laugh was a bright ray of sunshine for us all, and he will be deeply missed. He had a zest for life and filled the hearts of those that loved him with happiness. A memorial service will be held on June 17, 2017, at 2 p.m., at the Old First Orange Baptist Church, 7925 I-10 East, Orange, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Baylor College Autism Day Camp, or the Disabled American Veterans.
