
On Monday, May 1 at 10:25 Officer J. Trussell of the Pinehurst Police Department responded to the 1200 block of 28th Street in Pinehurst in reference to a suspicious person on a motorcycle. Upon arrival she located a white male on a motorcycle attempting to leave the area. She detained him and identified him as Luke Ivan Purgahn, 41, of Orange. He was found to hold an outstanding warrant issued by Justice of the Peace PCT. 4 in Vidor. He was placed under arrest for that warrant. A subsequent search of his person revealed a small plastic bag that contained a white, crystal-like substance believed to be crystal methamphetamine. In addition to the warrant, Purgahn was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, a State Jail Felony. If convicted, Purgahn is facing confinement in a state jail for a term of not more than two years or less than 180 days and up to a $10,000 fine.
The case is related to ongoing illegal drug distribution cases being investigated by the Orange County Precinct 2 Constable David Cagle and the Pinehurst Police Department.
