The 8th annual Orange County Sheriff’s Citizen’s Academy recently held their graduation for 12 citizens who took the 6 week course. This course offers them an inside look on how each division with in the Sheriff’s Office works. The course includes two weekly classes for 3 hours with instruction and hands-on practice out at our shooting range and a tour of the Orange County Jail. The citizen’s also got to ride in the SO’s air boat and safe boat. Sheriff Merritt said, “It is important that every citizen have the opportunity to gain insight on how and why we do things the way we do.” Graduates include: Gail S. Barnett, Essie Bellfield, William E. Crawley, John Jefferson, Jennifer D. Johnson, Mason Leboeuf, June Lucio, Michael G. Manshack, Denise Y. Smith, Lori P. Walker, and Raymond K. Welch Jr. Each graduate received a Certificate of Completion signed by Sheriff Merritt as well as several other gifts of appreciation from the Orange County Sheriff’s office.
