Orange police Friday night arrested a 21-year-old man for possession of a marijuana along with pills believed to be ecstasy. The arrest came after a traffic stop when Officer J. Kirkpatrick spoted a Mustang driving without back lights.
Officer Kirkpatrick reported he stopped the Mustang about 9:40 p.m. Friday. The car pulled over into a parking lot of a business in the 2900 block of 16th Street. The officer said he saw the passenger in the car holding the glove compartment closed.
Officer M.T. Roush came up to the passenger side and told the passenger to let go of the glove compartment. The door to the compartment fell open and officers could see a baggie with marijuana. After searching the glove compartment, they also found the pills.
Officer Kirkpatrick said the 23-year-old driver of the car said the passenger had bought the drugs behind a fast food business in the 1300 block of 16th Street.
21-year-old Victor Yanez Hernandez was arrested for misdemeanor possession of marijuana and a third degree felony of possession of a controlled substance in connection with the pills.
