A toddler was burned by cleaning chemicals Friday afternoon in Orange and was taken by medical helicopter to a Galveston hospital. Police Detective Captain Robert Enmon said the child’s injuries are not life-threatening or disfiguring.
Orange police report the 16-month-old was at his grandmother’s house and spilled the bottle of cleaner at the residence in the 2200 block of Second Street. The grandmother and mother immediately started running cold water over the toddler and called 9-1-1, police reported.
Captain Enmon said the incident appears accidental, but police are investigating.
A 7-month-old child from Orange suffered second degree, or blistering, burns on March 21. St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont notified Orange police after relatives took the child there. Captain Enmon said investigators still have not determined how the child was burned and that the parties involved have not been cooperating.
