6-year-old Greyson Scott Pinner of Mauricevillle died this weekend at a Houston hospital after he was found unresponsive in a hotel swimming pool Friday.
He had been in the Houston area with his family for a select team baseball tournament. The team, including his family and older brother, were staying at the hotel. Reports are adults were in the pool with the children.
Greyson was the son of Derek and Alicia Swinney Pinner and would have turned 7 on April 15. He was a first grade student at Mauriceville Elementary School.
Little Cypress-Mauriceville school district spokeswoman Sherry Combs said additional counselors were sent to the school Monday morning to help children and school staff with the loss.
“The LC-M family is focusing on helping the friends and family of the child and would appreciate prayers for those affected by this tragedy as they face the coming days,” Combs said.
Greyson’s funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Orange. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
