First off let me ask: How do you honor the life, the legacy of Debra Kay Hanks Bergeron Ellis? Where would you start? This is a really difficult task as there are not any words that can fully describe a woman who was known as “The Mother Theresa of Mauriceville”. The woman who embraced life and all its flaws. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to shine through her children and grandchildren. Affectionately known as “Aunt Debbie” & the “FUN one” to most. These nicknames should give you insight to the wonderful, selfless person she was. The word “no” was seldom heard to pass her lips. She was also a connoisseur of spaghetti dinners, always cooked large enough to feed an army of kids. For Debbie, any problem could always be fixed just by adding another can of spaghetti sauce. She had a knack for “telling it like it was”; Sweet, but never sugar coated which made her great for heart to heart conversations. Her weekends consisted of “sleepovers with the grandchildren ” and laughter (lots of laughter). She was one HECK of a piano player and had a wonderful sense of humor. Her dedication and love for her family and friends remained steadfast, even in her darkest times. Debbie was a UNIQUE and caring individual who touched the lives of all who knew her…and she will be so very deeply missed. She will forever remain a part of our lives. Gone but never forgotten.
She leaves behind her 2 sons Leroy & Tony Bergeron, 2 stepdaughters Jeanené & Christina Ellis, 9 grandkids Alayna, Ethan, Mya, Rosie, Lyla, Lilly, Leroy III, Livia, River, 1 stepbrother Hershel Kingrey, 1 daughter-n-law Latonia, lots & lots of nieces & nephews and to many more to list.
