A squeeze bunt from McNeese senior Matt Gallier gave the McNeese baseball team the lead it was looking for late in Wednesday’s sold out contest while two home runs from junior Mitchell Rogers sealed the Cowboys’ victory over the sixth-ranked LSU Tigers at Joe Miller Ballpark.
A crowd of 2,821 spectators, a complex record, crammed The Jeaux to witness the showdown and neither McNeese or LSU did not disappoint.
WOS products Aiden and Grant Anderson, sophomores at McNeese, both pitched against the Tigers. Aiden started, giving up 2 runs on 7 hits in two and a third innings with 1 strikeout and 1 walk.
Grant pitched the next two and two-thirds, giving up no runs on one hit with 4 strikeouts. Hunter Fontenot got the win in relief.
