
An estimated $7,500 worth of cigarettes was reported stolen from the back of a truck parked at a local hotel Monday night. Orange police went to the Best Texas Inn and Suites about 11 p.m. after a call from the truck driver. He had parked his 18-wheel rig and when he went to check on it, he discovered the lock to the trailer had been cut. Five large boxes of assorted brands of cigarettes were missing. Each box was valued at $1,500.

A resident in the Charlemont subdivision reported three motorized push-style lawn mowers had been stolen from his back yard. He called police about 6:30 Monday night to his house in the 2000 block of Coronado. He told Orange police the lawnmowers had been under a tarp in the back yard. Footsteps in the grass made a trail from where the mowers had been to the street.
The mowers were described as an orange Husqvarna self-propelled model with big back wheels, a gray Honda self-propelled mower with big wheels, and a red Craftsman mower.

Two residential burglaries were reported to Orange police during the weekend. One was reported about 9:30 Friday morning at the apartment complex at 1604 Cherry Avenue. A door had been forced open and items were missing.

The other was reported Friday evening at a house in the 1100 block of 11th Street. The resident found the front door. It had been forced open and items were stolen.
