
Just four years after resurrecting the program, Southwestern clinched its first-ever Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference championship with a 20-7 victory over Trinity Saturday at Birkelbach Field. It also marked the program’s first conference title since being crowned Texas Conference co-champions in 1946. The team includes for Bridge City standout Zach Cole, a starting LB, who had five tackles in the game.
The Pirates improved to 6-3 overall (5-0 SCAC) with only one conference game remaining. The Pirates will travel to Seguin next Saturday to face Texas Lutheran in the season finale. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
