The 2016 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District™ Football Teams have been released to recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
And for the third consecutive year, Texas Lutheran offensive lineman Tyler Howlett (Little Cypress Mauriceville) has been named to the Academic All-District First Team for District 8.
Howlett advances to the national CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
Howlett is a senior accounting major with a 3.80 grade-point average. He is four-year letterman and a three-year starter.
Howlett is a 2016 American Football Coaches Association Good Works nominee. He helped TLU to the 2014 NCAA Division III playoffs and to three consecutive Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference titles. The Bulldogs are 27-11 with Howlett on the team.
