Naomi McCormick was recognized by the Greater Orange Area Chamber of Commerce as the Student of the Month. Naomi is a senior at Deweyville High School where she is President of National Honor Society, member of History Club, Spanish Club, Student Council, and Annual Staff. Her awards include Citizenship Award in 11th Grade, 2016 Homecoming Court, and works the blood drive as well as being the head of the committee. Future goals are to attend Lamar University majoring in Political Science.
The Greater Orange Area Chamber of Commerce recognized Shannon Willet at the School District Employee of the Month. Shannon Willett has worked for Deweyville High School for 10 years. He teaches Senior Government and Economics. This year he has added the Sophomore United History classes to his work load. Mr. Willett has had a very positive impact on the Deweyville High School culture with his positive attitude, great music and dressing up, and his caring for our students. He is known as the “Fun Teacher”. He never says “NO” when asked to help in any capacity. He is the high school UIL Coordinator, concession stand coordinator, in addition to being a class sponsor. He is innovative with technology. He shares this with the students and staff. He hung projectors for teachers on his own. He works as a Home bound teacher after school when necessary.
