
A toddler and a senior citizen were injured Thursday in a collision on 16th Street at Clark Lane. The impact of the crash sent both vehicles into ditches.
The 2-year-old was in a Plymouth Grand Voyager and Orange police report he had minor injuries. The 73-year-old woman was a passenger in a Toyota Prius and her injuries were listed as non-incapacitating. Both were taken by Acadian ambulances to Baptist Hospital Orange Emergency Room.
The collision was about 12:40 p.m. Police said the Voyager, driven by a 26-year-old Little Cypress woman, was traveling south on 16th Street. The Prius, driven by a 65-year-old Bridge City woman, was traveling northbound.
Police said the Prius turned left onto Clark Lane in the path of the minivan and the two hit. The minivan went into the east side ditch at Drake Memorial Presbyterian Church. The Prius ended up in the north side ditch at the church and hit a fire hydrant, which was damaged.
According to police, the driver of the Prius was given a citation for failure to yield right-of-way on a left turn.
