LCM defeated Hamshire Fanett 3-1 Tuesday in the first game of district, 20-25, 25-18, 25-15, 27-25. Ace leaders were: (all with 2) Renna Toomey, Kaitlin Avery, Ally White, Madison Taggart. Kill leader was Renna Toomey with 12. Assist leader was Morgan Weaver with 28. Dig leader was Renna Toomey with 20. Block leader was Madison Taggart with 9. The Lady Bears are 1-0 in district play and 19-12 overall.

Deweyville moved to 1-0 in district and 19-10 overall with a victory Tuesday night against Hull-Daisetta 22-25, 25-15, 25-10, 25-18.

The Bridge City Middle School 7th grade Red Volleyball team competed in the PNG tournament this past weekend. During pool play, the Cardinals faced Port Neches, Hamshire-Fannett, and CO Wilson. Top servers were Emma Gaspard with 20 serves including 5 aces, Hannah Murchison 18 serves with 4 aces and Caryss Carpenter 15 serves with 1 ace. Gaspard and Kaylyn Dosch both did an outstanding job on serve receive. Reesie Ryder, Leah Jeffrey and Lauren Richter all did a superb job setting the ball for great hitting. The team worked really well together to get several pass, set, hits. Emma Gaspard led the way hitting with 16 attacks followed by Murchison 10 attacks, Carpenter 9 attacks and Dosch 7. Coach Wiegreffe was super proud of the girls’ effort in their first ever volleyball games.
