A change in offense resulted in a change of fortunes for the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears. Coach Randy Crouch is proud of the effort made by the Bears prior to the game. A good week of practices got LC-M prepared for the game with Hardin-Jefferson. Crouch comments, “They worked really hard to do what they needed to do, and we had a good outcome.”
This week LC-M plays the Orangefield Bobcats. Crouch says the Bobcats run the same offense as the Hawks did last week with the Slot-T. The Bobcats have a lot of size in their offensive line. Orangefield runs the football really well with backs that run very hard. Crouch reminds that the Bears scrimmaged the Bobcats in the past, and Orangefield has always played LC-M well. The coach advises every week’s a new challenge that requires preparation.
Coach Crouch points out Orangefield plays a well coached and disciplined defense. The Bobcats are a 4-3 defensive team, but show multiple looks from that formation. They do a good job running to the football, they do not make many mistakes on defense, and they line up correctly. Crouch advises the Bears will have to execute their offense and limit their mistakes.
The Bears are hoping to make it two wins in a row, and Crouch states that it starts with preparation in practice. Limiting errors is always important according to the coach. Last week LC-M only had one turnover, but still committed too many penalties. Coach Crouch hopes the Bears can build on what they did last week in the victory, improve, get sharper in certain areas, and make a good performance this Friday.
The LC-M Bears play the Orangefield Bobcats at Battlin’ Bear Stadium Friday night beginning at 7:00 and live on KOGT. A replay of the broadcast on KOGT will be aired at 7:00 Saturday morning.
