Strong starts in the first and second half propelled the West Orange-Stark Mustangs to a dominate 55-0 victory over the Cardinals in Bridge City Friday night.
For the second week the Mustangs (3-0) scored with their offense, defense and special teams while posting their third straight shutout. Down 55-0 in the fourth, the Cardinals even tried a 25 yard field goal to stop the scoreless streak but the kick failed.
Running back Jeremiah Shaw carried the ball 8 times for 126 yards and two scores and scored his third TD on a pass from Jack Dallas. Dallas also threw a TD to Jaylen Mathews and he ran for a score.
KJ Miller electrified the crowd with a 90 yard kickoff return to open the second half and he scored on an 85 yard punt return.
Defensively WOS only allowed BC 135 yards after coming in averaging almost 500 yds. in their first two games. The bright spot was hard running Cayce Draper who had 119 yds. rushing on 22 carries. The Cards had trouble holding onto the ball, fumbling 7 times but only losing it once. The only downside for the Mustangs was committing 11 penalties for 119 yds.
