
A Dickie’s Barbecue restaurant is coming to Orange. The city of Orange issued a building permit in August for construction of the new 2,316 square-foot building valued at $371,695.
It will be along the Interstate 10 access road on the eastbound side between 23rd Street and 16th Street. The address is listed as 2327 Lutcher Drive, east of the State Line Chevron at the intersection with 23rd Street. The permit was issued to Abdul Rahman Holding, AKA Dickie’s Barbecue.
Dickie’s website says the company started with a barbecue joint in Dallas in 1941. The company is now franchised with dozens of restaurants across the contiguous United States.
The Stark Foundation is spending more money in downtown with SpawGlass construction remodeling the old Stark Building at 507 Front Street. The building is getting new offices in the $199,500 project.
ITex Construction received permits to build two new houses in the new subdivision off Highway 87 South near FM 105. A house on Cypresswood Street is valued at $151,060, and a house on Sweetgum Street is valued at $180,167.
Also, contractor Jack Elliott took out a permit for $58,478 to remodel a house in the Old Orange Historic District at 502 West Cypress Avenue owned by Jon Meyers.
Two more permits for residential remodels were issued. One was for $25,000 to repair flood damage at a house in the 900 block of Cooper Drive. The other was for $5,790 to level a foundation in the 1200 block of Beagle Drive. A permit for $10,000 was issued to homeowners in the 2000 block of Rein Avenue for siding.
Four permits for a total of $26,000 were issued to install four residential storage buildings. Two residential re-roof projects totaled $14,600, and one commercial re-roof was issued for $9,785 to Tekoa Academy at 1408 West Park Avenue.
The Evening Lions Club received a permit to build a $1,000 concrete pad at Lions Den Park. Two residential concrete work permits totaled $3,550. Also, two residential carport permits went out for a total of $2,700. The city paid for the demolition of dilapidated house at 21 Bruce Lane.
