About 60 veterans attended a town hall meeting at the North Orange Baptist Church Thursday night. Congressman Brian Babin was the head speaker joined by representatives from the Office of Veterans Affairs which met at the conclusion of the meeting with individual veterans.
Congressman Babin believes the federal government needs to keep its promises made to the veterans. Babin said the veterans answered the call to serve their country when it needed them, and the federal government has made promises to assist them. Ignoring the veterans and not following through with assistance for them is a bad thing to do according to Babin.
The congressman informed the veterans that he has worked to get a bill passed in the House of Representatives for improvements to the Veterans Affairs. He added unfortunately the bill has stalled in the Senate.
